Congestion Before A Period

David Bowie and France

In 77, Bowie is a huge star in England and begins to penetrate the U.S. permanently. Paradoxically, the Thin White Duke is almost unknown in France. So he goes to see Michel Drucker a Sunday afternoon. My God, how beautiful it is, Bowie!

Top 72, England was hit by a revival in the fifties glitz, the glam rock! Slade, Sweet, Gary Glitter are the main representatives with a cut above, Roxy Music and T. Rex and of course, David Bowie in one of his most famous mutations (see the trilogy Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs). The evaporated
Glam, Bowie is taking different paths, but does not in France. He crossed the Atlantic ocean liner - he's afraid of the plane and obtains a much more convincing than successful Roxy or Mac Bolan. Her first real hit is a song co-written with an expatriate Renowned John Lennon. Fame takes first place in the billbooard 75. Master stroke!
Bowie remembers France, he refined man, and there appears Thin White Duke - perhaps not a coincidence - his new avatar for the album Station to Station. A concert is given, its first in France, the La Villette slaughterhouses in 76 (distasteful?). The room is full. It is a challenge because Bowie is a UFO for the French. The Glam Rock was for them something for gays and twinks with Patrick Juvet seized. The shift of soul Young Americans was incomprehensible, the French disregarded black music in Philadelphia. S tion to Station , an album for a chapel.
Heroes, post punk opus combining sophistication and modernism, conquered the French and Michel Drucker (there was even a French version of the title track). Is that a new alchemy is said in France: punk + opening for rock culture media (press, TV and radio). And here, our beautiful David on TV hexagonal plates. Beginning of a love story?
Drucker, not yet 60 years of TV, floundering in her English property and incorrectly calculates the star before him (as there are still two artists who dominated the '70s in the United Kingdom: David Bowie and Elton John.) Drucker oscillates between pro and questions franchouille nice. Bowie is courteous, gentle, almost accessible. It responds like a nice guy without arrogance, and he understands the situation. Her short hair, her lack of makeup and outrageous its apparent simplicity makes it awfully tempting. He has flirted with all limits, all the excesses that accompanied every musical experiences in the seventies as completing know how to do very large: Miles Davis, Picasso ...
After the TV show, Bowie will give two concerts at the Abattoirs ( yes, again!) in 77 as part of the promotional tour for the album Heroes . Unforgettable concerts - a double live Stage , rack soon after (see below).
Then, Bowie will return to France often and he will fly to the sky world stars with "Let's dance."
